Privacy notice
LIGF is in the process of registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission. This notice will be updated with our registered details and data protection contact once registration is complete.
What we collect and why
- Volunteer interest: name, contact details, state and LGA, preferred programme, skills, availability and age confirmation, so we can match you to a volunteer role. Lawful basis: your consent and steps taken at your request.
- Partnership enquiries and contact messages: your name, organisation, contact details and message, so we can reply. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in responding to you, and your consent.
- Newsletter: your email address, to send occasional updates. Lawful basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time through the unsubscribe link in every email.
- Staff accounts: name, email and an audit record of changes made in our systems, for security and accountability.
We do not ask for religious affiliation, health, financial or identity information on these forms. Please do not include it in free-text messages.
Who can see it
Only authorised LIGF staff whose role requires it, protected by multi-factor authentication and database-level access controls. We use trusted service providers to host our website, database and email; they process data only on our instructions. We never sell your data.
How long we keep it
- Volunteer interest, partnership enquiries and contact messages: up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then deleted.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe; your address is then kept only as an unsubscribed record so we do not email you again.
- Security audit records: 7 years, for accountability and legal compliance.
Your rights
You have the right to be informed, to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). To exercise your rights, use our contact form and choose a subject such as “Privacy request”.
International visitors
Our service providers may store data outside Nigeria. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
Cookies
The public website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Staff sign-in uses strictly necessary security cookies. If bot protection is enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile may process technical data to tell people and bots apart.
